What are American Odds?
Moneyline odds are favoured by American bookmakers and are often referred to as American odds. Following this format, the odds are quoted using a positive or a negative number.
The largest negative number indicates the favourite, and the odds show how much money you'll have to risk in order to win $100.
A positive number indicates the underdog, and the odds show how much money you'll win if you place a $100 wager.
When the odds are listed as EVEN, you'll win exactly the amount you wager. In a standard line where the odds are -110 for both teams, neither team is favored to win. As an example:
Atlanta Hawks (+180) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (-220)
If you bet on the Lakers, you'll have to risk $220 in order to win $100. However, if you bet on the Hawks, you stand to win $180 for every $100 you wager.
How to change the odds format to American Odds:
1. Click the silhouette icon at the top of any page, then select ‘Profile Settings’
2. Click the arrow next to Sports Odds and select ‘American Odds’ from the menu.
3. Click ‘Save’ to lock in your changes.
In the Bodog Sportsbook, you'll see American odds attached to point spreads, moneylines, totals, futures and some sports and entertainment props.
