Rules of Live Blackjack
If you’re already familiar with the standard rules of blackjack, you should have no trouble with the Live Dealer version of the game. The dealer must hit on soft 17 and stand on hard 17, which is standard in blackjack. One of the main differences in Live Dealer Blackjack is that you can split only once during a hand.
Once you’re dealt cards, you’ll have the following options:
- Hit: Receive another card
- Stand: Keep what you have and end your turn
- Double: When you double down, you double your bet, receive one more card, and end your turn
- Split: When dealt a pair, split them into two individual hands, each with your original bet attached
- Surrender: Give up your hand and retrieve half of your bet
You can also “buy insurance” at the start of your hand when the dealer’s up-card is an Ace. This side bet pays 2 to 1 if the dealer has a natural Blackjack, meaning their down-card is worth 10 points. Whichever play you choose, be sure to take your action in the allotted time, otherwise your hand will be completed automatically, according to optimal blackjack strategy.
